CALGARY --Sean Monahan scored twice to help the Calgary Flames rally for their fourth straight win, 5-3 against the Chicago Blackhawks at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday.

Matthew Tkachuk, Michael Frolik and Mikael Backlund scored, Elias Lindholm had three assists, and David Rittich made 12 saves for the Flames (9-5-1), who have points in five straight games (4-0-1).
"You get those wins and the ways we're winning, confidence]*
Jonathan Toews scored his 300th NHL goal, and Jan Rutta and Brandon Saad also scored for the Blackhawks (6-6-3), who have lost five in a row (0-4-1). Corey Crawford made 36 saves.
"We haven't been able to put together a full 60 [minutes]," Saad said. "In this league, if you don't play consistent you're not going to win hockey games."

CHI@CGY: Flames take lead on Monahan, Frolik's goals

Calgary rallied to its NHL-leading fifth win when trailing after 40 minutes.
Monahan scored his second of the game at 13:59 of the third period on a cross-ice pass from Johnny Gaudreau to tie it 3-3, and Frolik scored on a centering pass from below the goal line to put the Flames up 4-3 at 15:05.
"They just put so much pressure," Crawford said. "They kept coming. A lot of speed. They were making plays. They had a lot of confidence there in the third."
Backlund scored shorthanded into an empty net with 59 seconds remaining to make it 5-3.
"Obviously it'd be nice if we could be up after the first or second, but there's no quit in this room, I guess," Frolik said. "It shows the character here and what we've got. The last couple we've been pretty solid. It's a big win for us."
Calgary leads the NHL with 28 third-period goals.

CHI@CGY: Monahan nets Gaudreau's pass for PPG

"We're confident the whole game," Tkachuk said. "I just think that maybe when we're down we are pressing but pressing in a good way. It's not like we're going all-out. We're sticking to the game plan and everything like that. There's definitely an extra motivation when you have the puck in the offensive zone, and that's great."
Monahan scored on the power play to put Calgary up 1-0 at 4:46 of the first period when he finished a three-way passing play with Gaudreau and Lindholm.
The power play was a result of a five-minute major, and game misconduct, assessed to Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith for boarding Flames rookie Dillon Dube at 2:14. Dube did not return for precautionary reasons.
Toews redirected a pass from Patrick Kane on the power play to tie it 1-1 at 13:57 and reach 300 in his 806th NHL game.
He becomes the sixth player to score 300 goals with the Blackhawks, joining Bobby Hull (604), Stan Mikita (541), Steve Larmer (406), Denis Savard (377) and Kane (323), and also joins Phil Kessel of the Pittsburgh Penguins as the only players from the 2006 NHL Draft class to score at least 300 goals.
Rutta scored his first at 19:33 for a 2-1 Chicago lead, and Saad made it 3-1 at 12:41 of the second.
Tkachuk shot by Crawford's blocker to cut the lead to 3-2 at 18:26.
"It was a huge goal by [Tkachuk]," Frolik said. "That goal got us in the room 3-2, one goal down. That was a big goal for us. We just said in the room to go after them. That's what we did in the third. It's a big turnaround and a big win."

"We can take good signs from each game, but until we start stringing them together it's going to be tough to win hockey games." -- Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad
