Peart

ST. PAUL -- With its second-round pick (No. 54 overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft, the Wild selected defenseman Jack Peart from Grand Rapids High School (USHS) and the Fargo Force (USHL).

Here is a look at Peart's stats:
Height: 5-11
Weight: 186 pounds
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Grand Rapids, Minnesota
2020-21 team: Grand Rapids High School (USHS), Fargo Force (USHL)
NHL Central Scouting rank: 27th among North American Skaters
FCHockey scouting report: "Peart is a tremendous skater, showing poise and patience with the puck. He defends the rush well, but will need to work on his defense of the cycle. He'll also need to improve his overall decision-making.
"Peart is a smooth and athletic skater, showing great lateral movements and stride power in his backwards mobility. His acceleration is slightly hindered by his still-developing foot-speed, but he has good awareness and is shifty and elusive under forechecking pressure.
"He is a solid puck-handler and is adept at beating the first forechecker to break the puck out of his own end. He is not afraid to carry the puck into the offensive zone in transition but he is a crisp outlet passer and routinely creates favorable rush opportunities with two-line pass at- tempts. When the puck is on his stick, Peart can skate it out of his zone and make some smart transition plays, anticipating where the open ice is going to be and drawing opponents to him with some bursts of speed.
"He's very creative with the puck and his poise under pressure is really impressive. He can make some great exit passes and is a decent puck distributor on the blue line on the man advantage.
"Peart's lateral skating allows him to keep a tight gap when defending the rush, showing a good active stick and a proactive defensive stick to pressure puck- carriers before the puck gets deep into his own end. He doesn't shy away from physical contact in defensive zone battles and he can show a physical edge along the boards, but prefers to use his stick to disrupt cycle chances."
