New Minnesota Wild defenseman Kyle Quincey was a Black Ace for the Detroit Red Wings team that won the Stanley Cup in 2008. He's in the winning photograph and even got to spend a day with the trophy the following summer.
Still, Quincey said he doesn't consider himself a Stanley Cup champion.

"I don't count that as winning the Cup," Quincey said. "I'm starving for my first Cup as a player, playing in that final game and being a huge part of it. That's where my drive is coming from right now and I think Minnesota has a great opportunity if we do what we should do and realize our potential."
Quincey signed a one-year contract with Minnesota on Saturday, the opening day of NHL Free Agency. A veteran of 568 NHL games with five different teams, Quincey also has 56 games of Stanley Cup playoff experience to boot.
While Quincey has posted solid point totals in years past, he has become more of a reliable defensive presence in recent years, posting six goals and nine assists in 83 games with the New Jersey Devils and Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
"I pay a lot of attention to [my] defense," Quincey said. "I take a lot of pride in killing penalties and shutting down other teams top lines."
Quincey grew up in the Toronto area and was good friends as a youngster with Wild forward Chris Stewart's brother, Anthony, a teammate of Quincey on the same U-17 team in Kingston, Ontario. Both were selected in the 2003 NHL Draft.
Because of that connection through Anthony, Quincey and Chris Stewart became close while playing together as teammates with the Colorado Avalanche.
The two are so close, Chris Stewart attended Quincey's wedding last year.
"I'm looking forward to playing with him again," Quincey said.
After years of playing against Minnesota, Quincey said he is looking forward to avoiding the Wild on the schedule this season.
"I know how hard they compete and how hard it is to play against them," Quincey said. "I'm excited to be on that side."
