DALLAS -- In a shocking turn of events, the Stars find themselves entering the All-Star break with a gut-wrenching loss.
Leading by two goals with under five minutes remaining in the third, the Stars collapsed and gave up three in less than four minutes to lose 4-3 in front of a stunned crowd of 17,567 at American Airlines Center on Tuesday.

The Stars had everything going for them until the third period. They erased an early deficit with three unanswered goals and had the support from goaltender Jake Oettinger. But for some reason they caved, and the result was disastrous.
It was a game with serious implications. Both teams had 48 points, but the Stars had played two more games, which makes this loss even worse.
Goals from Joel Hanley, Jason Robertson and Jamie Benn should've been more than enough, considering Oettinger had allowed just one goal to Trevor Lewis entering the final 20 minutes.

But the Flames responded with tallies from Andrew Mangiapane and Johnny Gaudreau in a 37-second span, and a dagger from Oliver Kylington as he exited the penalty box.
Kylington's penalty gave the Stars a glorious opportunity to regain the lead with under four minutes remaining in regulation, but instead they found themselves chasing the puck more than controlling it for the duration. The Stars finished the game going 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
The Stars won't play again until Wednesday, Feb. 9 vs. Nashville.
