Kassian-51916

Forward Zack Kassian agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Financial terms were not announced.
Kassian, 25, could have become a restricted free agent July 1.

The Oilers acquired Kassian from the Montreal Canadiens for goaltender Ben Scrivens on Dec. 28, 2015. In 36 games with the Oilers, Kassian had three goals, five assists and 114 penalty minutes.
Kassian never played for the Canadiens, who had acquired him from the Vancouver Canucks on July 1 for forward Brandon Prust. Kassian broke his foot and nose in a car accident Oct. 5 and was placed in Stage Two of the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program (SABH) of the NHL and NHLPA. He was suspended without pay until cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators Dec. 15.
Selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 13th pick of 2009 NHL Draft, Kassian has 74 points (38 goals, 36 assists) 234 games with the Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Oilers.
