Describe your job in 2-3 sentences: Developing prospects within the entire Boston Bruins system, from the most recent draft class to players in the Bruins' AHL affiliate in Providence.
What's the best piece of career advice you've ever been given, or what advice do you like to give others?
The best career advice I was ever given was that I don't need to know exactly what it is that I want to do in life, I just have to find something I'm passionate about and take small steps in that direction. It took a lot of pressure off me and allowed me to stop comparing myself to other people and where they were at in their career paths. I never would've expected I'd end up with the Boston Bruins, but it clearly worked out pretty well!
What sports did you play, and enjoy most or least, growing up?
I tried to play every sport possible as a kid: skiing, snowboarding, ice hockey, figure skating, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse. I'm sure it's no surprise that hockey was by far my favorite. While figure skating played a huge role in my success as a hockey player because of how much it helped my skating, it was probably my least favorite. I hated wearing leotards and dressing up, and I wasn't very graceful!
Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert, and how does it impact your work?
I would definitely consider myself an extrovert. I love being around people and I find that it recharges me. It's the reason that my favorite part of my job is my building and maintaining strong relationships with the staff and players. I believe it's one of the most important aspects of coaching and developing players, and I see it having a positive impact on my job.
