because he pretty much wanted to get the ink anyway.
"I decided on Connolly because of how much I love the original source photo," Duchaine told NHL.com. "When I look at that picture, I think that guy sitting in the chair... could be any one of us Capitals fans at that moment. It felt like they knew how long we had been waiting for a championship."
He went to Billy Bennett of Tattoo Paradise in Washington, D.C. for the artwork, which actually became a topic of conversation in the Capitals locker room.
"It was pretty funny," Connolly said. "I think we got a good laugh out of it. Winning the [Stanley] Cup and everything that comes along with it, there was a lot of emotions from us and the fans. He decided that's what he wanted to do, and I thought it looked pretty good actually. It was well done and pretty funny to see."
"It was an added bonus to find out that not only had the Capitals heard about it but were genuinely excited for it to happen," Duchaine said.
Another added bonus? Connolly has been on a scoring binge since the ink dried.
