Vinnie Hinostroza signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

The 29-year-old forward had 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 26 games with the Buffalo Sabres last season and nine points (five goals, four assists) in 11 games for Rochester of the American Hockey League.

A sixth-round pick (No. 169) by the Chicago Blackhawks at the 2012 NHL Draft, Hinostroza has 148 points (53 goals, 95 assists) in 360 regular-season games with the Sabres, Blackhawks, Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes, and two assists in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Hinostroza had 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists) in 34 games for the University of Notre Dame in 2013-14, when he was teammates with Penguins forward Bryan Rust.

The Penguins also signed forward Andreas Johnsson to a one-year, $800,000 contract Friday.

The 28-year-old had three assists in 13 games with the New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks last season, and 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) in 36 games with Utica of the American Hockey League.

A seventh-round pick (No. 202) by the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2013 NHL Draft, Johnsson has 116 points (48 goals, 68 assists) in 259 regular-season games and six points (two goals, four assists) in 14 playoff games.
