In Seguin's absence, Team Canada coach Mike Babcock shuffled his forward lines from Monday. Steven Stamkos moved off a line with Ryan Getzlaf and John Tavares to replace Seguin on the right side of a line with Jonathan Toews and Logan Couture. Corey Perry, who had been rotating as an extra forward at practice Monday, took Stamkos' spot on the right side of a line with his Anaheim Ducks teammate, Getzlaf.
Seguin sustained a cut to his Achilles tendon March 17. He returned for the Stanley Cup Playoffs but sustained a calf injury in his first game back, against the Minnesota Wild in Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round, and missed the remainder of the postseason.
