Chara Briuns Patriots split

The median height of fans at Gillette Stadium for Sunday's AFC Divisional Round playoff game was brought way up.

Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Zdeno Chara, who captained the Boston Bruins to the 2011 Stanley Cup, attended the game decked out in full New England Patriots gear as they prepared to take on the Houston Texans with a berth in the AFC Championship Game on the line.

"Hey Patriots fans, this is Big Z. I'm super excited to be at the game," Chara said in a clip shared by the team. "Let's go Pats!"

Chara was wearing a home blue No. 0 Christian Gonzalez jersey to the game while hanging on the sidelines.

You may remember Gonzalez rocked a Chara home Bruins jersey ahead of the Patriots opening round playoff victory against the Los Angeles Chargers last week.

Chara, the tallest player in NHL history at 6-foot-9, recently had his number raised to the rafters at TD Garden and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November.
