Lightning celebrate Hedman’s 1,000th NHL game

The Tampa Bay Lightning celebrated defenseman Victor Hedman’s 1,000th NHL game on Monday before their matchup with the Dallas Stars at Amalie Arena.

Hedman’s teammates wore special T-shirts during walk-ins to commemorate the milestone. The T-shirts had Hedman’s number on an emblem with “1,000 NHL Games” written underneath.

During warmups, the team all wore jerseys with the number 1,000 on them and Hedman’s last name listed.

Hedman got a special message from friends and former teammates, in a video posted by the team on social media.

Before puck drop, Hedman was joined by his family on the ice for a special ceremony.

Hedman becomes the first Lightning defenseman to reach 1,000 games.
