TBL@PHI: Point goes bar down in shootout winner

PHILADELPHIA -- The Tampa Bay Lightning extended their point streak to nine games with a 4-3 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist, and Alex Killorn and Victor Hedman each had two assists for Tampa Bay (9-3-3), which is 7-0-2 during the streak. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves.
"We got ourselves in a hole with a few careless mistakes at first and dug ourselves out," Stamkos said. "We had a couple big penalty kills in the third, and then traded goals late. ... We're on a pretty good streak right now, so we're just trying to find ways to win, which is nice."

Claude Giroux scored two goals for Philadelphia (8-4-3). Carter Hart made 29 saves.
"The first two periods, 'Hartsy' really got tested and gave us a chance to stay in the game," Giroux said. "In the third, we're trying to do our best to kind of control the game. I think our third was our best period. We were on our toes and just having that one point, it's pretty big."
Stamkos put the Lightning ahead 3-2 at 18:04 of the third period when his shot from a sharp angle trickled under Hart's right pad.
"We had a set play off the face-off," Stamkos said. "They did a good job of covering it. Just thought I would sling one on, probably got a little lucky, surprised the goalie a little. It was nice to see it go in."
Said Hart, "I wouldn't play that any different. Just kind of an equipment malfunction there. I'm on my post, I'm not leaning over too far. Those pads I've used four times, so they're pretty new. Expect that from older sets, so it's kind of fluky and something I'll look into with my gear."

TBL@PHI: Giroux scores on screen shot

Giroux tied it 3-3 with nine seconds remaining and Hart pulled for the extra skater, shooting through traffic from the top of the left circle after Derick Brassard won a face-off back to him.
"I saw there was a lot of bodies, so I just tried to sneak it to the net," Giroux said. "Wasn't really trying to score, just trying to get it on net so we can get a rebound and get a mosh pit in front of the net and somebody put it in. But it had eyes and went in."
Stamkos and Brayden Point scored in the shootout for Tampa Bay. Vasilevskiy stopped Sean Couturier and Giroux.
Giroux gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at 1:34 of the first period, splitting two Lightning players before deking Vasilevskiy and tucking the puck five-hole.
Travis Konecny made it 2-0 at 10:21 of the first when he blocked a pass from Cal Foote at Philadelphia's blue line, skated in on a 3-on-1 rush, and shot to the far post from the right circle.
Point scored on the power play to get the Lightning within 2-1 at 1:51 of the second period.

TBL@PHI: Joseph scores on slick pass from Killorn

Mathieu Joseph tied it 2-2 at 14:52 of the second, tucking the puck inside the left post after Killorn's pass deflected to him off Philadelphia defenseman Justin Braun.
"We stuck with it," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Didn't like our start. ... We hung around long enough to go into overtime and a shootout."
