Capitals claim first championship with five-game series win

The Golden Knights, playing their inaugural season, reached the Final by defeating the Winnipeg Jets in five games in the Western Conference Final.

The Capitals, who defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games in the Eastern Conference Final, reached the Final for the second time; they were swept by the Detroit Red Wings in 1998.
