Dunn discusses Blues' goal song

"Gloria" is so 2019.

Before the NHL season was paused due to concerns over the coronavirus, the St. Louis Blues were trying to defend their Stanley Cup championship but with a new celebratory song.

Laura Branigan's 1982 hit was well documented as the team's victory song during their improbable run from last place to the tile. But that was not the case this season.

Blues defenseman Vince Dunn said on a team call that the team had a new tune.

"This year we got a new one. We haven't really been too focused on it, it's kind of been whatever, we didn't want ot carry it over from last year. We kind of just left it in the past," Dunn said. "I think this year it's an Eddie Murphy song, 'Party All the Time.' We have a pretty fun group. We like to have our fun and I think the song kind of reflects on our group a little bit."

Dunn's explanation drew smiles from almost all his teammates on the call.

Murphy, best known as an actor and comedian, made a short-lived foray into pop music in 1985. "Party All the Time" was written and produced by Rick James and was a hit at the time, but is now looked upon as more of an unforgettable time capsule of the era.

But hey, taking a hit from the 1980s and playing it after victories worked well last year for the Blues, so why not try it again?
