Sammy Blais scored two goals, Robert Thomas had three assists, and the St. Louis Blues defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 at Nationwide Arena.
Blais gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead 35 seconds into the second period, and made it 3-1 at 6:49 with his fourth of the preseason. Thomas had an assist on each goal. Ivan Barbashev increased the Blues' lead to 4-1 at 19:37, and Dmitrij Jaskin made it 5-1 with a power-play goal 1:16 into the third period. Cam Atkinson gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead 7:25 into the first period before Chris Butler tied it 1-1 at 11:07. Ville Husso made 16 saves for the Blues. Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves for the Blue Jackets.
