STL@ANA: Terry extends streak to 11 games with PPG

ANAHEIM -- Troy Terry scored a goal to extend his point streak to 11 games when the Anaheim Ducks defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-1 at Honda Center on Sunday.

Terry scored on the power play from in front of the net to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead at 2:46 of the third period. He has scored 14 points (eight goals, six assists) during his streak, the longest in the NHL this season.
"I was fortunate to get off to a good start [to the season]," Terry said. "Just get a couple points early and feel good, and kind of take that pressure off and just play."
Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored his first NHL goal and had an assist, and John Gibson made 34 saves for the Ducks (6-4-3), who have won four in a row for the first time since Dec. 9-17, 2018.
Brandon Saad scored, and Jordan Binnington made 23 saves for the Blues (7-2-1), who were trying to match the best 10-game start in their history (8-1-1 in 2002).
"We could have done a lot of things better," St. Louis coach Craig Berube said. "It seemed like we didn't have a lot of emotion in the game. We had opportunities to score. We didn't capitalize on some good opportunities."
Sam Steel deflected a slap shot from Hampus Lindholm past Binnington to make it 3-1 at 8:31 of the third.

Groulx scored into an empty net to make it 4-1 with 48 seconds left.
St. Louis captain Ryan O'Reilly returned after missing four games while in NHL COVID-19 protocol. He had two shots on goal in 18:54 of ice time.
"There were opportunities for me to make good plays and I didn't make them tonight," he said. "Disappointed with that, but I know I'll kind of adjust and be better for the next game."
Saad scored 13 seconds into the game to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead. It is the fastest goal from the start of a game in the NHL this season
St. Louis defenseman Colton Parayko chipped the puck to David Perron at the top of the right circle and he made a cross-ice pass to Saad, who scored on a one-timer through Gibson's pads.
The Blues have led at some point in every game this season.

Pennington made a save on a breakaway by Derek Grant at 4:44 of the first period, and Blues forward Klim Kostin hit the post on a 2-on-1 at 7:44 of the first.
Anaheim's fourth line combined to tie the score 1-1 at 8:23 of the second.
Groulx made a cross-ice pass to Derek Grant coming through the left circle in the St. Louis zone and he fed Sam Carrick coming through the right circle for the redirection.
Carrick has scored in three of his five games this season.
"It's a total team effort right now," Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said. "We don't just need one line or one goalie, or a D-pair, we need all 23 of our players right now. Those players, all 23 of them, are sacrificing [for] each other. They're committed to each other."
