Hockey world reacts to name announcement for 31st NHL franchise

The Vegas Golden Knights became the NHL's 31st franchise, and their name reveal lit up social media Tuesday.

The Golden Knights name trended across North America on Twitter, and they debuted #BoldinGold for their fans to use. Many teams, including some of Vegas' future Pacific Division rivals starting next season, offered kind regards in welcoming the Golden Knights to the League.

The New York Rangers could only think of the legendary casino New York, New York while dreaming of their first trip to Vegas.

The people at adidas Hockey created these videos to introduce the new team name and fire up fans.

The NHL Shop also unveiled a full line of Golden Knights merchandise.
