The New York Rangers all-time leading scorer shared a video of himself stick-tapping and saying thank you to participate in the nightly citywide cheers for essential workers.

, police officers, first responders and other essential workers every night at 7 p.m. The Hockey Hall of Famer, who played for the Rangers from 1960-78, called participating in the applause the highlight of his day.
The NHL paused the season March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus. A month ago to advocate social distancing, Gilbert reminded people to remain six feet, or the length of a hockey stick, away from one another at all times.
