PITTSBURGH -- The NHL and PPG announced Thursday at Heinz Field they had reached a multiyear corporate marketing agreement to make the company's paint brands the official paint of the NHL in the United States and Canada.
The announcement came in conjunction with the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers at Heinz Field on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; NBC, SN, TVA Sports 2, NHL.TV). PPG has a 20-year naming-rights agreement with the Penguins for Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena.

"As you look out at this incredible NHL rink we have built at Heinz Field for Saturday's Penguins-Flyers game, you may have noticed the PPG logo at center ice," said Brian Jennings, NHL executive vice president and chief branding officer. "We hope PPG will become part of the fabric of the game. … We are thrilled to help expand PPG's reach beyond loyal Penguins fans to hockey fans in markets across the United States and Canada.
"As we celebrate our centennial year, the NHL has never been younger or stronger. We look forward to embarking on the next 100 years with great partners like PPG."
PPG is the official paint supplier of the Penguins. It is a Fortune 500 company and global supplier of paints, coatings, specialty materials and fiberglass headquartered in Pittsburgh.
"Those from Pittsburgh know our history," said Bryan Iams, PPG vice president of corporate and government affairs. "We're a 133-year-old company with our global headquarters in the great city of Pittsburgh. We're the world's largest paint and coatings company. This move for us to partner with the NHL is a really important one for our consumer paints business is something that our leadership here and across the world, in particular in the U.S. and Canada, are really proud of."
In addition to supplying paint for the Stadium Series, PPG will be featured at future Stadium Series games and the NHL Winter Classic. PPG will have rights to use NHL logos and marks on paint packaging, store point-of-purchase displays, contests and promotions and through social media and digital marketing in the U.S. and Canada.
PPG is planning several engagement initiatives for fans, including coupons and promotions for its paint products.
