BYRON

MONTREAL - Forward Paul Byron was suspended for three games by the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday.

The punishment was imposed based on an incident that occurred during Tuesday night's game against the Florida Panthers at the Bell Centre.
Byron was assessed a minor penalty for charging Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar early in the second period.
The Canadiens' No. 41 released a statement on social media offering up his sincerest apologies to Weegar.

Following the suspension, Byron could be back in action on February 2 when the Canadiens play host to the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre.
