NEW YORK -- Mike Condon made 19 saves in relief, Ryan Dzingel scored twice, and Thomas Chabot scored his first NHL goal with two assists to help the Ottawa Senators end their seven-game losing streak with a 6-5 win against the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Friday.

Zack Smith, Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman scored for Ottawa (9-9-6), which scored nine goals during its losing streak.
"We're very happy about the resiliency and getting through tough times," Senators coach Guy Boucher said.

Anders Lee scored twice, and Jason Chimera had a goal and an assist for New York (15-8-2), which lost in regulation at home for the first time this season (8-1-2). The Islanders had won four in a row.
"We were just sloppy in our own end at times. When we weren't sloppy, we were pretty good," Islanders captain John Tavares said. "We've just got to clean up the mistakes we made; we were just being a little careless at times."
Each starting goalie was pulled in the second period; Ottawa's Craig Anderson was relieved by Condon at 8:26 after making 13 saves on 18 shots. New York's Thomas Greiss allowed five goals on 20 shots before being pulled at 11:49. Jaroslav Halak made 14 saves.

"It's difficult," Condon said of entering in the middle of a game. "You warm up and you come back in here and you sit for an hour and a half. Everything is cold, your nervous system kind of slows down a little bit. When you get back in there, everything gets jacked up pretty high pretty quickly, all the adrenaline.
"It's just telling yourself, make that first save and everything will fall into place. That's what I told myself, and it worked out tonight."
Dzingel made it 6-5 1:38 into the third period off a rebound after Halak made a save against Chabot.
Condon preserved the win when he denied Jordan Eberle with one second remaining.
Lee's second goal of the game, 15th of the season, made it 3-3 at 3:01 of the second period. Andrew Ladd scored 1:16 later to give New York a 4-3 lead.
Chabot tied it 4-4 with his first NHL goal, in his seventh game, at 8:26 of the second period, a one-timer from the right face-off circle, but Chimera put the Islanders back in front 5-4 14 seconds later with his first goal since April 9.

Anderson was pulled after Chimera's goal. Halak relieved Greiss after Hoffman's power-play goal made it 5-5.
"I've just got to play better personally," Greiss said. "Good things will happen if you work hard."
Dzingel gave the Senators a 1-0 lead at 8:32 on a breakaway. Smith scored his first of the season at 9:41 on a slap shot from the slot for a 2-0 edge.
"A lot of times get guys down, but I think Guy instilled our confidence and tried to keep us positive," Dzingel said. "We pulled out everything we could to stay positive. It's hard for a lot of guys, especially myself, to stay positive when things are going wrong. You want to win and you want to play well for your team."

Anthony Beauvillier made it 2-1 at 12:13, and Lee extended his goal streak to three games with a power-play goal at 14:27 for a 2-2 tie.
Ryan gave the Senators a 3-2 lead at 18:55 of the first period when Dion Phaneuf's centering feed redirected off Ryan's left skate for his first goal of the season.

They said it

"You ask any guy, it's not easy going through a stretch like we went through, because when you lose like that and the losses mount, the pressure begins to mount, and, with that, confidence … you've got to really stick with it because it's not easy to go through those stretches. You've got to build yourself up because you're coming to the rink and you know where you're at. We're professional athletes, we know the severity of the losses and the stretch that we went on. It just feels good to find a way to win this hockey game, because when you feel better about yourself, you play with more confidence, you play looser, and not structure-wise looser, but you just feel better when you come to the rink." -- Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf
"Both teams kept both teams in it, I felt, as the game went on. It's just disappointing. It's a winnable game that we fought back. You worry about giving up six a game, that's for sure. I don't think that was how the game was played, frankly. Some of those pucks just found their ways in for both teams. But I don't think it was a pretty game either." -- Islanders coach Doug Weight
