Center Nolan Patrick of Brandon in the Western Hockey League and center Nico Hischier of Halifax in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were named captains for their respective teams at the 2017 Sherwin-Williams Canadian Hockey League/NHL Top Prospects Game.
The 22nd annual showcase of the top 40 players eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft will be played at Videotron Centre in Quebec City on Jan. 30.

Patrick will captain Team Don Cherry; left wing Maxime Comtois of Victoriaville (QMJHL) and right wing Owen Tippett of Mississauga (Ontario Hockey League) will be the alternates. Patrick (6-3, 198), 18, returned to the lineup Friday after missing 35 games because of an upper-body injury and scored two goals and four points in a win against Kootenay. Patrick, who had surgery to repair a sports hernia in July, has six goals and 13 points in eight games for the Wheat Kings this season.
"I'm excited about the event, to be named as a team captain is an honor," Patrick said. "I'm just looking forward to getting to Quebec City and playing with some great players. It should be an entertaining game with that much talent on the ice together."
Hischier will captain Team Bobby Orr; defenseman Nicolas Hague of Mississauga (OHL) and center Michael Rasmussen of Tri-City (WHL) will serve as alternates. Hischier led all 2017 NHL Draft-eligible players with four goals and seven points for Switzerland in five games at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship. He leads QMJHL rookies with 30 goals, 30 assists and 60 points in 36 games.
"It feels really good (to be named captain) because it's an honor for me and I'm really excited about it," Hischier said. "It's a good experience and a chance to meet new friends so it should be fun."
