Kieffer Bellows
, Michael Dal Colle and Joshua Ho-Sang, and defenseman
Noah Dobson
, were among New York Islanders training camp cuts Monday.
Bellows, the No. 19 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, Dal Colle (No. 5, 2014) and Ho-Sang (No. 28, 2014) were assigned to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League. Bellows had three points (two goals, one assist) in four preseason games.
"Bellows certainly showed up well, better than I thought he would, but right now we have to make some decisions with the people we have here and we have to give the ice time to them," Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "It's best for him to go to the minors, play a lot, play in key situations and grow as a player."
Dobson, the No. 12 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, was returned to his junior team, Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Defensemen Sebastian Aho and
Parker Wotherspoon
, forwards
Ben Holmstrom
and Travis St. Denis, and goalie
Jeremy Smith
also were sent to Bridgeport.
The Islanders' training camp roster is down to 28 players (17 forwards, nine defensemen, two goalies).
