Winnipeg Jets

The Jets canceled their practice scheduled for Saturday.
They said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution due to potential exposure of COVID-19" and that information about their schedule Sunday would come later.
The Jets are scheduled to play the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Monday (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, SNO, TSN3, NHL.TV). They opened their season with a 4-3 win in overtime against the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

New York Rangers

Tony DeAngelo will be a healthy scratch for the Rangers when they play the New York Islanders at Madison Square Garden on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; MSG, MSG+, NHL.TV).
"Tony won't be in the lineup tonight," Rangers coach David Quinn said. "There's a lot of things that go on that we are going to keep in house and this is one of them. Tony and I have talked about it. There is clarity on what happened here. It's the right thing to do and he'll be back in the lineup soon."
DeAngelo was assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at the same time he took a holding penalty at 1:05 of the third period in a 4-0 loss to the Islanders on Thursday. The defenseman will be replaced in the lineup by Brendan Smith.
Quinn was not happy with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, one of eight penalties the Rangers took in their season opener.
"This would have happened with any player," Quinn said. "It has nothing to do with Tony. I'll just leave it at that."
DeAngelo, who played 15:25 and was minus-1 on Thursday, led Rangers defensemen with 53 points (15 goals, 38 assists) in 68 games last season.-- Dan Rosen

New York Islanders

Coach Barry Trotz said the Islanders will carry three goalies on the roster with Cory Schneider having been added before the game at the Rangers on Saturday.
Schneider will join Semyon Varlamov, who made 24 saves against the Rangers on Thursday, and rookie Ilya Sorokin.
Schneider joined the Islanders as an unrestricted free agent after the New Jersey Devils bought out the final two seasons of his seven-year contract Oct 9.
"We knew this was going to be a year where it could be COVID, could be injuries, that goaltending will be a real key ingredient to your team," Trotz said. "I think we probably had looked at [Schneider] being on the roster all year."
Schneider was 3-6-2 with a 3.53 goals-against average and .887 save percentage in 13 games (11 starts) with the Devils last season and played 14 games for Binghamton of the American Hockey League.

Detroit Red Wings

Bobby Ryan is expected to make his Detroit Red Wings debut against the Carolina Hurricanes at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; FS-D+, FS-CR, NHL.TV).
The forward, who agreed to a one-year contract Oct. 9, did not play in a season-opening 3-0 loss to the Hurricanes at home Thursday because of an undisclosed injury sustained during training camp.
Coach Jeff Blashill said the Red Wings likely would spot Ryan in at 5-on-5 so he can get his legs under him. They hope he can help most on the power play. Detroit went 0-for-2 in the opener.
"I'm just happy to be back in whatever role that they give me," said Ryan, who is entering his 14th NHL season "After missing the most important week of training camp, I'll play wherever. It doesn't bother me." -- Nicholas J. Cotsonika

Edmonton Oilers

Goalie Troy Grosenick was claimed off waivers Saturday, one day after Mike Smith was placed on long-term injured reserve.
Grosenick, who was claimed from the Los Angeles Kings, spent the past five seasons in the American Hockey League. He has played two games in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks in 2014-15.
Smith was expected to start against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday but was scratched for an undisclosed reason. Mikko Koskinen played instead, making 38 saves in a 5-2 win, and was backed up by Stuart Skinner, who was called up from the taxi squad.
After placing Smith on injured reserve, Edmonton recalled Olivier Rodrigue to the taxi squad. He was playing in Austria and will have to complete quarantine before joining the Oilers.
The Oilers host the Montreal Canadiens at Rogers Place on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, TVAS, CITY, SNE, SNW, SNP, NHL.TV).
