Rangers' pick Kakko welcomed to New York by Knicks' selection Barrett

Highly touted prospects project bright future at Garden

The New York Rangers and New York Knicks share much more than Madison Square Garden. They share big hopes for the future with a pair of super-talented rookies.

The Rangers selected high-scoring Finnish forward Kaapo Kakko with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft on Friday. Just 24 hours earlier, the Knicks selected high-scoring Canadian forward R.J. Barrett out of Duke University with the No. 3 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The second-newest member of the Garden family welcomed the Rangers' fellow top-3 pick, and the Knicks shared the video on Twitter.

Tweet from @nyknicks: Welcome to @TheGarden family, Kakko! @NYRangers

After both teams missed their respective playoffs last season, things are definitely looking up after the 48-hour stretch.
