Roster cuts are a necessary part of every training camp, but the New Jersey Devils are working against a clock moving at hyper speed thanks to their trip to Europe to begin the season.

On the second episode of the all-access series "Behind the Glass: New Jersey Devils Training Camp," presented by The National Hockey League and NHL Network, which airs Monday at 7:30 p.m., Devils coach John Hynes and general manager Ray Shero have to make some tough decisions a little sooner than they would during a normal season.
The Devils needs to be all but set by the time their plane leaves for Bern, Switzerland for an exhibition game against SC Bern and the regular-season opener against the Edmonton Oilers in Gothenberg, Sweden on Saturday (1 p.m. ET; SN, MSG+, NHL.TV).
In the episode, Hynes and Shero give a handful of players the news that they won't be making the team and tell them where they are going next. Those talks don't get any easier to make, Hynes confesses.
Beyond the cuts, League MVP Taylor Hall describes living in Hoboken, New Jersey, a few miles from the Prudential Center in Newark, the Devils' home arena.

"The fans have really embraced me as a player and as a person," Hall said. "It's definitely someplace I can see myself being around for a long time."
Viewers will also see forward Brian Boyle at home with his wife Lauren and two children as they reflect on his leukemia diagnosis a year ago.
"Camp this year, it's a gift," he said. "I'm excited to be able to participate, be a full participant, not just moping around here wondering when I'm going to be able to play again."
Episode 3 airs on Oct. 8 (7:30 p.m. ET); Episode 4 is on Oct. 15 (7:30 p.m. ET). Each 30-minute episode offers a close-up look at the players and coaches as they prepare for the season.
Bonus content and clips from each episode of Behind The Glass will be shared by the NHL, NHL Network and the Devils across their digital and social media platforms using #BehindTheGlass. In addition to its schedule on NHL Network, each episode of Behind The Glass will also re-air on Sportsnet.
