NHL @ the Rink Mike Rupp

How quickly it could come together for Patrick Kane and the New York Rangers, excitement about seeing Jack Hughes playing in big games and the potential for Jonathan Quick to face his old team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs were a handful of the topics discussed with NHL Network analyst Mike Rupp on this week's episode of the "NHL @TheRink" podcast.

Rupp, a Stanley Cup champion with the New Jersey Devils 20 years ago, joined co-hosts Dan Rosen and Shawn P. Roarke for a wide-ranging discussion related to the big moves already made in the advance of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
Rupp said Kane will need some time to adjust in New York after being traded to the Rangers on Tuesday. He's curious how it will work with Artemi Panarin even though the two forwards had so much success playing together with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2015-17.
Hughes' play in big games was only part of the discussion about the Devils. Rupp also talked about the impact forward Timo Meier, traded from the San Jose Sharks on Sunday, can have on them and why he was such an important addition to help New Jersey play a playoff style in the postseason.
Rupp was loving the idea that Quick, traded from the Los Angeles Kings to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday, and then to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday, could find his game again with his new team and knock out Los Angeles in the playoffs.
The Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers were all part of the 20-minute interview too.
In addition, Rosen and Roarke broke down the Pittsburgh Penguins and why adding forward Mikael Granlund in a trade with the Nashville Predators on Wednesday might be a better move than some in western Pennsylvania think it is going to be. They also touched on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators, Kings and Rangers.
The deadline edition of the "NHL @TheRink" podcast, like all editions of the show, is free and listeners can subscribe on all podcast platforms. It is also available on NHL.com/multimedia/podcasts and the NHL app.
