WINNIPEG - Earlier Tuesday morning, Tyler Myers was announced as the Jets nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
The award is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

Myers was nominated by the Winnipeg chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
"It means a lot. Obviously a tough year last year on a couple of different fronts," Myers said, referring to the knee and hip surgeries he had in March of 2016.
Myers was then limited to 11 games in the 2016-17 season due to multiple lower-body injuries that required several surgeries.

His family also dealt with serious adversity off the ice. His wife Michela had an emergency C-section in January 2017, and their son Tristan was born five weeks prematurely. Tristan stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit for several weeks as he battled through a pulmonary hemorrhage, a seizure and a stroke.
"To come back this year, and have the year the group is having, it's been a lot of fun. With things moving forward, it looks up, and it's very exciting for me, and for my family."
