Lindros, who played 13 NHL seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016. He will have his No. 88 jersey retired by the Flyers prior to their game against the Maple Leafs at Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 18.
Lindros' assistants will be Guelph coach George Burnett and Guelph assistants Jake Grimes and Luca Caputi.
Cherry will participate as a coach for the 17th time since the game began in 1996. Since 2006, the winning team has been presented with the Don Cherry and Bobby Orr CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Trophy. Cherry's assistants will be Hockey Hall of Fame member Brian Kilrea, Bert O'Brien and Mississauga coach James Richmond.
"The CHL is honored to have Don Cherry and Eric Lindros part of the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game," CHL president David Branch said. "Don is one of the key architects of this event from the inaugural game in 1996 to building the showcase it is today, and Eric is one of our league's all-time greatest players whose contributions to the game are evidenced by his Hockey Hall of Fame induction last season. Their participation in Guelph will certainly make this a very special experience for the players and for the fans."
The game will feature
40 of the top prospects
for the 2018 NHL Draft from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League.
Among the players taking part are 16 who received A ratings in NHL Central Scouting's November players to watch list, including Barrie (OHL) forward Andrei Svechnikov, Halifax (QMJHL) forward Filip Zadina and Drummondville (QMJHL) forward Joseph Veleno.
