The Carolina Hurricanes will be coming back in black.

The team announced that when their Stanley Cup Qualifier series against the New York Rangers begins, they will be wearing their alternate black jerseys for games where they are designated as the home team.

The Arizona Coyotes have already said they plan to wear their famous Kachina jerseys for home games during the Stanley Cup Qualifiers.

The choice to wear the black uniforms over their traditional red home jerseys is not only based in style preference, but perhaps actual success in games.

The team posted on its website that they were 7-5-1 during the 2019-20 season before the pause. During the 2018-19 season, the Hurricanes were 11-2-2 and they are 5-2 in them during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Since the June 2018 unveiling of the black sweaters, the Hurricanes are 23-9-3.
