Krys, who won a bronze medal with the U.S. at the 2016 WJC, has one goal and three points in 17 games for Boston University this season.
Windsor center Logan Brown (Ottawa Senators) and Erie right wing Alex DeBrincat (Chicago Blackhawks) were released from the team Wednesday following a 4-3 pretournament win against Switzerland.
The U.S. will open the tournament against Latvia in a preliminary-round game at Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Monday (3:30 p.m. ET; NHLN). The U.S. also will play Slovakia, Russia and Canada in Group B competition.
