Oilers forward Connor McDavid had two assists on his 21st birthday, becoming the third-youngest active player to reach 200 NHL points. McDavid became the second-youngest Edmonton player to reach the mark, after Wayne Gretzky (19 years, 347 days).
"You just have to work," McDavid said. "[Vegas works] so hard up and down the ice. It's a skating man's game when you play these guys, so you've got to be prepared. I just know we work hard, compete with them, skate with them."
Edmonton goaltender Cam Talbot, who was pulled Friday from a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes after allowing two goals in 3:17 of the first period, made 34 saves.
"Heading into the break we knew we needed a good effort, especially against a team that hasn't lost much in this building," Talbot said. "I made some big saves early and was able to control the pace of the game and kind of ease my way into it, and then made a few big saves down the stretch when we needed it."
Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves in Vegas' first game after a five-day break.
