Draisaitl's 3rd-period goal lifts Oilers to a 3-1 win

LOS ANGELES -- Leon Draisaitl had a power-play goal and two assists for the Edmonton Oilers in a 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday.

Edmonton moved one point ahead of Los Angeles into second place in the Pacific Division. The Oilers are three points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first in the Pacific.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a power-play goal and an assist, and Stuart Skinner made 20 saves for Edmonton (46-23-9), which has won five in a row and is 10-0-1 in its past 11 games.
"It was a patient game and not a lot of room on the ice," Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. "Very well-played game by both teams. We found a way to win, which is a good sign for our group."

Pheonix Copley made 30 saves for Los Angeles (45-23-10), which lost in regulation at home for the first time since Jan. 19 (11-1-2).
"I think you look at the special teams tonight. I think we were 0-for-4 on the power play, and we gave them too many chances and they capitalized," Kings defenseman Sean Walker said. "Guys got to step up and get the job done."
Draisaitl scored on the power play at 12:40 of the third period to put the Oilers ahead 2-1, attacking the crease to put in Connor McDavid's rebound. Draisaitl leads the NHL with 31 power-play goals.
Darnell Nurse scored an empty-net goal at 18:24 for the 3-1 final.
Edmonton was 2-for-4 on the power play.
"We have confidence in ourselves," Nugent-Hopkins said. "I thought we probably weren't as clean as you'd want to be in the first couple (of power plays), but I think stuck with it, trusted ourselves and the process. Just the ability that we can step up and get one when you need to."
Edmonton went up 1-0 at 11:30 of the second period when Nugent-Hopkins scored on a wrist shot from the left face-off circle on a power play.

It was the 15th power-play goal for Nugent-Hopkins, making Edmonton the first team in NHL history to have four players with at least 15 power-play goals. McDavid has 21, and Zach Hyman also has 15.
"The core group of guys have been there for a long time," McDavid said. "And it's pretty cool to be part of a power play like that. It's not about how many you score but when you score, and we got two big ones tonight."
Viktor Arvidsson tied it 1-1 for the Kings at 10:26 of the third on a slap shot from the blue line through traffic.
It was the first goal Edmonton allowed going back to 18:28 of the third period in a 7-4 win against Vegas on March 28 when Jonathan Marchessault scored. The Oilers then shut out the Kings 2-0 on Thursday and the Anaheim Ducks 6-0 on Saturday.
"They've very skilled and they're playing a heavy game," Walker said. "It's all defensive right now. So, that's something we're going to have to focus on and find a way to crack and beat them."
