Cory Schneider practices with Albany of AHL

New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider practiced with Albany of the American Hockey League on Monday while continuing his recovery from a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee.
"I wouldn't have come up here if I didn't think I was going to be back or if it was a longer process than I had hoped," Schneider told the Albany Times Union. "It was a unique idea that made sense to me and was easy to do.

"It was a good practice. It was up-tempo. They practice with pace and purpose. That's great for me."

Schneider, a 2016 NHL All-Star, sustained the injury while making a pad save in the third period of a 4-2 loss at the Dallas Stars on March 4. He is scheduled to rejoin the Devils for the morning skate Tuesday before their game against the Boston Bruins at Prudential Center (7 p.m. ET; NESN, MSG, SNO, SNP, SNW, TVA Sports, NHL.TV).
"They didn't want to rush me back and risk further injury," Schneider said. "Physically I've felt great the last week to 10 days."
Schneider is 26-23-6 with a 2.17 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in 55 games this season.
New Jersey, 5-4-1 in its past 10 games, is five points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia has two games in hand.
