The Penguins center has missed three games with an upper-body injury sustained in a 4-2 loss at the New Jersey Devils on Nov. 13. He participated in Pittsburgh's optional morning skate Wednesday after practicing fully Tuesday.
The Penguins were 0-2-1 without Crosby, and are 1-7-2 in their past 10 games. If they lose Wednesday, it would mark their second five-game losing streak this season.
Goalie Anton Khudobin will start for the Stars in place of Ben Bishop, expected to miss at least a week with a lower-body injury. Khudobin is 3-3-1 with a 2.37 goals-against average and .925 save percentage in seven games (six starts) this season.
Dallas, which has allowed two goals or fewer in four straight games, is 2-1-0 in its past three and 6-3-2 in its past 11.
