Blackhawks win seventh straight game

NASHVILLE -- Brian Campbell scored with 1:05 remaining in the third period to propel the Chicago Blackhawks to their seventh straight win, 5-3 against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
Jonathan Toews hit Campbell in the slot with a pass, and he beat Predators goaltender Juuse Saros for his fifth goal. Patrick Kane scored into an empty net with 39 seconds to play.

"We knew we weren't playing again] for five days," Campbell said. "It felt like we were a little tired even from last night [a 2-1 shootout win against the New York Islanders], but we gutted it out and got through it. We wanted to finish this little break off here where we don't play for five days on a good note."

The Blackhawks (42-18-5), who have won 12 of their past 13 games (12-1-0), moved one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild for first place in the Central Division and the Western Conference, though Chicago has played three more games. The Predators (32-24-9) have lost two games in a row.
The Blackhawks set a franchise record with their eighth consecutive road win.
"It's special," Kane said. "Obviously with the franchise, it's been around a long time. We've had some great runs here, but to set that record and play so well on the road lately, it's been great for us."
Toews gave the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead at 19:03 of the second period on the power play. Duncan Keith took the original shot that went off Richard Panik, and Toews got to the rebound for his 17th goal.
Calle Jarnkrok scored 14 seconds later for the Predators on a wrist shot from the left circle. It was his 13th goal.

"I thought our guys played extremely hard," Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. "I thought they battled back. We were ready to play from the start. I think Chicago maybe got caught a little bit in the first seven or eight minutes working their way into that game and our guys were ready to play, but they're a class team that is able to turn their game around if it doesn't start the way they want."
Viktor Arvidsson tied the game 3-3 at 4:13 of the third period on a wrist shot from right circle. Ryan Johansen dropped the puck for Arvidsson, who beat Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford for his 23rd goal of the season and second of the game. Crawford had 32 saves.
Kane gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead at 16:23 of the first period on the power play. Toews was in front of the net screening Saros, and Kane beat him for his 28th goal. Saros made 28 saves.
Jordin Tootoo gave the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead at 11:03 of the second period on a wrist shot from the slot. It was his first goal and first point of the season.
Arvidsson made it 2-1 at 12:20 of the second period.

Kane skated into the left circle to set up a wrist shot on his first goal. He pulled the shot around Predators defenseman Matt Irwin and past Saros.

Save of the game

Crawford stopped a redirection from Jarnkrok at 7:05 of the third period on a shot from the point by Roman Josi to keep the game 3-3.

Unsung performance of the game

Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook had two assists to reach 400 NHL points. He also had five blocked shots and a takeaway in 22:17.

Highlight of the game

Arvidsson beat Keith to the puck in the offensive zone and got off a shot in one fluid motion for his first goal of the game.
