13 skaters earn a point in a 5-1 Blackhawks win

CALGARY --Jaxson Stauber made 34 saves in his second NHL start, and the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Calgary Flames 5-1 at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday.

Stauber, who was recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Jan. 17, is 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .940 save percentage.
"Awesome. He was calm, cool, collected," Chicago forward Colin Blackwell said. "He's been like that ever since he got called up. You can tell he's just locked in all the time. His routine from right when he gets on the bus, he's pretty dialed in. He made some huge saves. Some were point-blank. He's been great."
Taylor Raddysh and Jason Dickinson scored, and Patrick Kane had an assist for the Blackhawks (15-28-4), who have won four of the past six games.
"We were all cohesive," Dickinson said. "We were all on the same page and working together. That's when we're at our best. If we can get all four lines and all six [defensemen] and the goalie playing composed and playing together, we're going to be a pretty good team."

Jonathan Huberdeau scored, and Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves for the Flames (23-17-9), who have lost three of five and play at the Seattle Kraken on Friday.
"They come in here and we know that it's not the best in the League, they're the bottom of the standings and we can't disrespect that," Huberdeau said. "That's a lesson."
Raddysh put Chicago up 1-0 at 17:47 of the first period with a wrist shot from inside the left face-off circle that snuck under Markstrom's right arm.
Huberdeau tied it 1-1 at 19:32. He deked through the slot before tucking a shot by Stauber's outstretched right pad.
Boris Katchouk gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead at 9:39 of the second period when his wrist shot from the high slot deflected in off Nikita Zadorov's leg. Luke Philp had an assist for his first NHL point in his second NHL game.
"It was just kind of like, 'No way,'" Philp said. "I just kind of saw 'Bo' in the high slot there. I wasn't even thinking this could materialize into a goal, and it did. I was pretty pumped up. I was pretty excited."

CHI@CGY: Katchouk gets a pass and hammers it home

Katchouk's goal came after Markstrom made a sprawling left pad save at the edge of the crease on a rush chance from Max Domi at 4:28, and a right pad save on Blackwell's backhand attempt in close after a broken play in the slot at 6:17.
"It's not acceptable," Flames forward Mikael Backlund said. "'Marky' is playing really well as of late. We haven't played good enough in front of him and we all want to be a lot better next time he's in net."
Dickinson extended the lead to 3-1 at 15:37 when he chipped in a shot after Kane spotted him behind Calgary's defense, and Sam Lafferty made it 4-1 when he finished a 2-on-1 by shooting Blackwell's cross-ice pass by a diving Markstrom at 16:09.
Connor Murphy scored into an empty net with 43 seconds remaining in the third period for the 5-1 final.
"Obviously, it's unacceptable," Huberdeau said. "At home, and we need these points right now. The way we came out and the way we played, too many odd-man rushes. They had so many chances. I feel for 'Marky' because he's been playing good lately and we're not playing good in front of him."
