The Hurricanes tied the Carolina/Hartford Whalers record when they won 5-4 in overtime against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. The 1995-96 Whalers won their first four games and tied their fifth.
The Jets will be without defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, who is day to day with an upper-body injury. Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov will replace Byfuglien. Kulikov has been a healthy scratch for the past four games. Goalie Laurent Brossoit will make his first start for the Jets.
