The Flames are one point behind the Winnipeg Jets, who play the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Calgary, which begins a five-game road trip, lost to the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Friday.
Detroit has lost 15 of its past 18 games (3-14-1), including a 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Friday. The Red Wings have scored one goal or fewer in seven of their past 11 games.
Jonathan Bernier, the only goaltender who has a win for Detroit since Oct. 29, will start.
