Elliotte Friedman, Ron MacLean, Kevin Bieksa and Colby Armstrong will the faces of Sportsnet’s new “Saturday Night Hockey” broadcast this season.
“’Saturday Night Hockey’ will put Canadian teams front-and-center, where the compelling games and world’s best players will be the focus of the show, with a studio team that brings unmatched personality and unique perspectives,” said Greg Sansone, President of Sportsnet.
The show, which premieres Oct. 3, will feature an NHL doubleheader each Saturday with at least one Canada-based team in each matchup.
The talent and the new Saturday show was part of announcement on Wednesday from Sportsnet that included other new features and changes for the 2026-27 season.
Sportsnet in 2026-27 will have a national schedule in Canada of more than 550 games, including 150 regional blackouts lifted.
“Sportsnet will showcase more games than ever before with 35 percent more national broadcasts than last year and fewer blackouts, giving fans unprecedented access to the NHL’s biggest stars and best moments," said Greg Sansone, President of Sportsnet.
“Monday Night Hockey” returns Oct. 5 and will stream exclusively on Sportsnet+. “Hockey Central,” hosted by David Amber alongside analysts Luke Gazdic and Justin Williams, brings fans a second weekly national showcase featuring Canadian NHL teams.

Sportsnet’s regular-season coverage begins Opening Night on Sept. 29 with a Canadian doubleheader on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
At 7 p.m. ET, the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Montreal Canadiens, followed by the Edmonton Oilers hosting the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m. ET
Sportsnet will also broadcast all NHL tentpole events including the 2026 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic between the Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 25, the Discover NHL Winter Classic between the Colorado Avalanche and Utah Mammoth on Dec. 31, 2027, NHL All-Star Weekend on Feb. 5-6, and the Navy Federal Credit Union 2027 NHL Stadium Series between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars on Feb. 20 as well as all the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the exception of three early round series that will be available on Prime Video.
