Forsling throws out first pitch with son before Marlins game

Last time Gustav Forsling was at loanDepot Park, the field looked quite a bit different.

On Tuesday, the Florida Panthers defenseman made his way back to the ballpark for the first time since the 2026 Winter Classic hosted in Miami, throwing out the first pitch before the Miami Marlins' matchup with the New York Mets.

His two-year-old son, Bo, joined Forsling at the ballpark for the pregame festivities.

Bo even tossed a first pitch himself, following in his dad’s footsteps with a strike right down the middle.

Each were wearing customized Marlins jerseys.

Forsling – a two-time Stanley Cup champion – last won the title with Florida in 2025. Bo (just one year old at the time) lifted the Stanley Cup himself after that championship. A mini one, that is.

One year later, another core memory for the father-son duo.

Forsling and the Panthers kick off their season on Sept. 29 in Raleigh against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes as part of ESPN's opening night tripleheader. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
