Hendrix Lapierre
signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.

The 18-year old forward, who was selected by the Capitals in the first round (No. 22) of the 2020 NHL Draft on Oct. 6, leads Chicoutimi of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with eight points (three goals, five assists) in four games this season.
"I was a big [Alex] Ovechkin fan growing up," Lapierre said after he was drafted. "Had his jersey, had his poster on my wall, so I think that's where it came from. ... Washington holds a special place in my heart and I'm really really happy to be part of that organization for sure."
Lapierre scored 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) in 19 games with Chicoutimi last season, missing significant time because of a neck injury. He scored 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in five games at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, leading all skaters in points to help Canada to a second-place finish.
"After such a roller coaster year, it's amazing to be able to put that jersey on," he said. "I feel like it's really like the cherry on the sundae after a negative season."
Lapierre won the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the QMJHL Offensive Rookie of the Year after scoring 45 points (13 goals, 32 assists) in 48 games in 2018-19.
