Defenseman Brady Skjei was recalled by the New York Rangers from Hartford of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of the Rangers' game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday and did not return. Coach Alain Vigneault said after the game that McDonagh would be re-evaluated Tuesday.

The Rangers play the Tampa Bay Lightning at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SNO, SNP, TVA Sports, MSG).
McDonagh leads the Rangers with an average ice time per game of 22:21, and has nine goals, 34 points and a plus-26 rating in 73 games.
Skjei, 22, has played his first four NHL games this season, most recently March 8 against the Buffalo Sabres; he has four shots on goal and two penalty minutes. In 68 AHL games he has four goals and 28 points.
