McIntyre-Lundqvist 10-26

BRUINS (3-3-0) at RANGERS (4-2-0)

Bruins team scope

Rookie goalie Zane McIntyre will make his first NHL start after making his first NHL appearance in relief of fellow rookie Malcolm Subban in the Boston Bruins' 5-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild at TD Garden on Tuesday. McIntyre made 15 saves on 17 shots after relieving Subban with 9:24 to play in the second period. Subban will be the backup. The Bruins are going with the rookie tandem for the second straight game because Tuukka Rask (general soreness) and Anton Khudobin (upper body) remain out. "Just exciting," McIntyre said. "Obviously anxious to get out there, but confident in my preparation, what I do beforehand to get prepared for the game. Just going to take those normal steps, eat the same stuff, do the same stuff, do the weird quirky stuff beforehand and just be ready to rock when the puck drops." Boston will also be without forward David Backes for the second straight game. Backes had surgery to remove the olecranon bursa from his elbow Monday, according to general manager Don Sweeney, and his condition is expected to be updated after the weekend. The Bruins have lost back-to-back games by a combined score of 9-2. They have been outshot 62-48 in those games.

Rangers team scope

The New York Rangers are looking to improve to 4-1-0 at home this season and are coming off of a 3-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist will make his fourth consecutive start. Lundqvist has allowed six goals on 75 shots in his past three starts after giving up six goals on 46 shots in his first two. Forward Pavel Buchnevich (back spasms) participated in the full team morning skate Wednesday and coach Alain Vigneault said he possibly could be ready to play Friday, when the Rangers are at the Carolina Hurricanes. The Rangers are 22-1-2 in games when defenseman Ryan McDonagh plays 25 or more minutes dating back to Oct. 16, 2014.
