Bruins team scope

Forwards David Pastrnak and Frank Vatrano likely will be in the lineup for the Boston Bruins. Pastrnak is expected to return after missing the past two games because of an elbow injury. Pastrnak, who leads the Bruins with 19 goals, would be reunited with linemates Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Vatrano is expected to make his season debut after having foot surgery on Sept. 26. "I'm obviously very excited and it's something I've been waiting for all year," Vatrano said. "I just tried to work as hard as I can knowing that I was going to be back on the ice at some point." Vatrano had eight goals and 11 points in 39 games last season. The Bruins, who are 9-5-3 away from home, begin a four-game road trip against the Florida Panthers.

Panthers team scope

Jaromir Jagr needs one point to pass Mark Messier for sole possession of second place on the NHL's all-time point list. Jagr tied Messier on Tuesday when his three assists gave him 1,887 points. "If it happens, it happens," Jagr said. "If it doesn't, it doesn't. Hopefully I can have an opportunity the next game. Just win the hockey game. Hopefully sooner or later, it's going to happen." Goalie Roberto Luongo skated on his own before the morning skate and Mike McKenna was recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis to serve as the backup for James Reimer. Coach Tom Rowe said Luongo would be in net Friday against the Detroit Red Wings. "It's more maintenance," Rowe said. "A couple of bumps and bruises here, but nothing that serious. I just wanted to give [Luongo] a little rest mentally more than anything. He's been bumped in a little bit lately; we've got to start doing a better job of protecting him, that's for sure." Forward Jonathan Marchessault is expected to play after missing seven of the past eight games because of a lower-body injury. Marchessault did not play in a 4-3 shootout victory against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday after being a game-time decision.
