Blues defeat Blue Jackets in preseason opener

Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk scores two goals; forward Scott Hartnell gets three points @NHL

Forward Kenny Agostino had two goals and three assists, forward Samuel Blais had a goal and three assists and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk had two goals and an assist to help the St. Louis Blues to a 7-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scotttrade Center on Sunday.

Blues center Paul Stastny scored and goalie Jake Allen stopped 13 of 16 shots in his preseason debut.

Scott Hartnell had two goals and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who allowed four goals in the third period. Sam Gagner had a goal and two assists.

Goalie Joonas Korpisalo played the entire game for the Blue Jackets and made 21 saves.

Blues backup goalie Carter Hutton played the third period and made two saves.
