It's hard to tell whether Auston Matthews' best assist on Tuesday came before the game or during it.
A pair of Toronto Maple Leafs fans were at the Verizon Center for the Maple Leafs game against the Washington Capitals.
They got a prime spot behind the Maple Leafs bench with their sign that read "Leafs, it's my first NHL game, can I get a puck?"
Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk spotted the duo and tried to toss them the puck once, then twice, then gave up.
But then came Matthews to deliver the goods to the clear delight of the two women wearing Matthews jerseys.
Matthews later had an eye-popping spin-o-rama setup on Leo Komarov's goal in the second period.
He was just helping out any way he could.
