The Coyotes have allowed 16 goals in the four games, including a 3-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Thursday.
The Rangers are playing for the first time since Monday, when they lost 6-3 at the Tampa Bay Lightning. They are 2-5-1 in their past eight games and have been shorthanded 14 times in their past three games.
New York has won nine straight games against Arizona, dating to March 24, 2014.

Players to watch

Coyotes center Nick Schmaltz has four goals in eight games since he was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 25.
Rangers center Kevin Hayes has four points (two goals, two assists) in the past two games.

Galchenyuk was close to playing Thursday but sat for the second straight game. He could be ready to return. … Buchnevich will play after missing 13 games with a broken thumb. Zuccarello is back after missing seven straight games and 13 of 15 since Nov. 9 with a recurring groin injury.
