ST. LOUIS - For Blues goalie Jake Allen, any chance he gets to play against the Montreal Canadiens is special.
Allen grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, which is about a seven hour drive from Montreal. That's not exactly close, but there isn't a Canadian NHL city closer than that to Fredericton.
Allen also played half of his junior career with the Montreal Juniors in the QMJHL.

"It's a big deal for me," Allen said. "Pretty much my whole hometown is (full of) Montreal Canadiens fans. Maybe some of them are converted Blues fans now, but I played (in Montreal) in junior growing up and got to see them all the time on TV and in person."
Tonight, Allen will be going head-to-head with Carey Price, arguably one of the best goaltenders in the game today. Price is tied for the League lead with 14 wins and boasts a 1.82 goals-against average and a .942 save-percentage.

"It's fun to go head to head against a goalie like Price," Allen said. "Obviously he's the best for a lot of reasons. It's a good measuring stick for yourself. It's where I want to be, and hopefully over the next few years, that can happen."
Allen isn't too shabby himself right now. The 26-year-old goaltender has won his last seven starts and ranks second in the League in home winning percentage. He's won six straight games at Scottrade Center and is 9-0-2 with a 1.78 goals-against average and a .932 save-percentage at home this season.
