After another step forward this past season towards the ultimate goal of winning the franchise's third Stanley Cup, the organization is back to work to acquire talent and develop the best possible roster for the Kings' next season and beyond. There might not be any Kings games until October, but there are numerous dates that Kings fans should mark on their calendar's during the 2022 offseason. In preparation for both the immediate future and the year's to come, the Kings will be looking add to their current roster and deepen their talented prospect pool.
Here's what's to come and when during the 2022 offseason.

Thursday, July 7 & Friday, July 8: NHL Draft at Bell Centre in Montreal
The Kings own five draft picks entering the 2022 NHL Draft, but that does not include a first-round selection. The Kings first-round pick (19th overall) has been traded to the Minnesota Wild, along with prospect Brock Faber, in exchange for winger Kevin Fiala. The Kings also do not own the rights to their own third-round pick (84th) which they sent to the Nashville Predators as part of the package to acquire Viktor Arvidsson, but do own the rights to the Pittsburgh Penguins third-round pick (86th) which they acquired as part of the Jeff Carter to Pittsburgh trade.
You can catch both Day 1 of the 2022 NHL Draft on ESPN and ESPN+, while Day 2 will be aired on NHL Network and ESPN+.
Unless the Kings trade back into the first round, the team currently holds the 51st, 86th, 116th, 148th and 180th selections, all on Day 2, when rounds 2-7 take place.
July: 2022-23 NHL Schedule Released
Also expected to take place in the busy month of July will be the schedule release for all 82 games in the 2022-23 regular season. Single-game tickets will be available in the coming weeks at LAKings.com/tickets.
Monday, July 11 - Qualifying Offers on Restricted Free Agents Due
The deadline for NHL teams to issue qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents is on Monday, July 11th. By issuing the offers, teams are given the right of first refusal or draft choice compensation should the player sign an offer sheet with another team.
Current Restricted Free Agents (RFA's) on the Kings include: Mikey Anderson, Lias Andersson, Sean Durzi, Carl Grundstrom, Adrian Kempe, Brendan Lemieux and Gabe Vilardi.
Mid-July: Kings Development Camp
Following the 2022 NHL Draft on July 8th, the newly acquired draft picks along with the full Kings prospect pool and camp invitees will gather in El Segundo at Toyota Sports Performance Center sometime in mid-July for the annual Kings Development Camp.
Exact times, schedules of events and players participating for Development Camp will be announced at a later date.
Wednesday, July 13: NHL Free Agency Begins
In the midst of the Kings Development Camp will also come the opening of the 2022 NHL Free Agency. Free agency opens beginning at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, July 13th.
Current Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA's) on the Kings include: Andreas Athanasiou, Alex Edler, Olli Maatta and Troy Stecher.
Tuesday, August 9 - Saturday, August 20: 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships
The 2022 World Junior Championships will return in full after a cancellation of the original event on December 29th, 2021. The original event was cancelled due to a number of positive COVID-19 tests just three days into the showcase. Each competing country will have the opportunity to reselect their rosters going into the rescheduled tournament. Prospects competing in the original 2022 WJC's for the Kings were: Martin Chromiak (SVK), Helge Grans (SWE), Samuel Helenius (FIN), Kirill Kirsanov (RUS) and Kasper Simontaival (FIN).
September 16 - September 19: 2022 Rookie Faceoff
The last key event to take place in the 2022 offseason prior to next season's Training Camp will be the annual Prospect Showcase. It provides another opportunity and platform for all of the Kings recent draft picks to make a statement against the Pacific Division's top prospects. The event will be held in San Jose and will be hosted by the San Jose Sharks.
